We are so excited to share that we have a working prototype for The Farm @ OCM in Norfolk, Virginia, which is in its third season of production and Indoor Garden in Evanston, IL. The working Micro-Farm allows visitors to engage in hand-ons learning experiences centered around local flower and food production. Programming can be used as a tool to teach the importance of supporting local farmers and food literacy, as well as be a platform to engage community partners with the museum.
Flowers and vegetables are interspersed throughout the landscape, creating a sustainable eco-systems with active pollination and good soil health. Through workshops and exhibits, as well as apprenticeships, the micro-farm will teach the entire process of growing from seed sowing to market to eating to floral arranging.
